PassportMD was founded by a physician with the singular purpose of creating a better way for busy people to manage their own and their family's healthcare. PassportMD has become the premier consumer-directed healthcare portal helping people keep track of all elements of their family's health and wellness, including personal health records, doctor communications, pharmacy records, and expenses. PassportMD's Interactive Health Record (PHR) vision was to provide the user with high-quality information to understand every disease or medication that each family member has or is taking. It was to help with correct spelling and intelligent searches on the web delivering only trusted information back rather than "noisy" commercial websites. PassportMD was seeking a partner to work with to provide the medical terminologies to support that vision.

IMO Solution

IMO proposed PassportMD make use of the IMO®Problem (IT) web portal to provide real-time searching from IMO's extensive clinician and patient friendly knowledge database. IMO's software engineers guided PassportMD's developers on the best way to leverage the IMO internet web services so that the 160,000 lexical variances - including common misspellings and typos - were available to power PassportMD searches.

Result

PassportMD uses the latest web technologies to perform fast online "suggest" style searching into the IMO dictionary. Users are able to see the search results before they have finished entering their search. PassportMD continues its design excellence and high customer satisfaction rate.
